**GOOD NEWS**
Tuesday, Elon Musk lost $22 billion in the stock market. Yeah. That’s the most satisfying news of the week.
A federal judge is putting to the test who exactly is running DOGE by demanding that the administration has to send someone who is a representative of DOGE to answer questions, and they must answer them under oath.
21 technology experts with the federal government were tapped to work with DOGE to do all the cutting that they’re doing, and they ALL resigned this week – saying they were refusing to use their technical expertise to ‘dismantle critical public services’. “We swore to serve the American people and uphold our oath to the Constitution across presidential administrations. However, it has become clear that we can no longer honor those commitments.”
People who work at the Yosemite National Park hung an American flag upside down on the mountain to protest Trump and Elon Musk cutting so many national park workers.
We all know the last several weeks people have been flooding Republican Congress people‘s town halls, but conservative constituents have also started calling right wing radio shows like Hannity and Charlie Kirk. People are angry and they’re not just stopping at Congress. Conservatives are starting to wake up and realizing they don’t like a lot of this. It wasn’t what they voted for.
EVERY House Democrat voted against the budget resolution that the GOP passed earlier this week. (Harshbarger said in her town hall that democrats also voted with the republicans on this, but that was a flat out lie.)
Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro sued the Trump administration for the $2.1 billion that was frozen which needed to go to state agencies. He won that lawsuit, so state agencies are once again receiving funds.
The shareholders at Apple overwhelmingly voted to reject getting rid of their DEI program! Go Apple!
Super Bowl winners, the Philadelphia Eagles, declined their invitation to visit the White House.
Trump had signed an executive order that incarcerated transgender women could be transferred to men’s prisons. That has since been blocked by a judge.
In their effort to forcefully eject even more immigrants from the country, Trump’s folks approached the IRS and asked for 700,000 addresses and personal information of people they thought might be in the country illegally… the IRS declined to give them that information.
All charges against Teresa Borrenpohl (the woman who was manhandled and dragged out of an Idaho town hall) have been dropped. LEAR security’s business license revoked. And Sheriff Norris is under investigation. 🤷♀️
Jeff Bezos said that he wanted to turn the opinion section of the Washington Post into one that talks ONLY about very conservative and libertarian values. Apparently since he made that decision, the opinion editor has resigned and more than 75,000 people unsubscribed. These folks are getting QUICK reminders that this country is still filled with thinkers and progressives who want to go FORWARD – not back.
The republican ranks are starting to to fracture. Last week they ALMOST fractured over the budget. (In the end only Kentucky’s Massey held out.) But yesterday, Republican Congressman Don Bacon completely broke ranks from the MAGA cult to rip into the catastrophic Oval Office screaming match between Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This is a rare moment of courage from a conservative. Bacon was quoted as saying, “A bad day for America’s foreign policy. Ukraine wants independence, free markets and rule of law. It wants to be part of the West. Russia hates us and our Western values. We should be clear that we stand for freedom,”
Indivisible groups across the country have seen a boom in memberships the past few months. This group alone has grown by close to 500 members since the first of the year. Our numbers and our voices are powerful, so be encouraged!
We are in this for the long haul. Don’t forget that on the days it gets discouraging. Despite their gerrymandering, underhanded dealings, lies, and billionaire funded think tanks… there are still more of US than there are of them.
And remember that the way we are going to win this (in addition to our unified voices) is with our wallets. Until we break the trifecta, we are NOT spending money on anything but basics. Period. Support small businesses. Frequent thrift shops, yard sales, and buy nothing groups. Do your own yard sales! Hold off on large purchases like vehicles and home appliances. They think they can wear us down, but they need a solid reminder that WE hold the wallets. Our wallets will win over their think tanks every time.
Be hopeful. And be courageous. Because courage is contagious!
Thank You!
