INDIVISIBLE KNOXVILLE VOTERS ENGAGE
We think you should vote, and if you’re a reader of this page, you probably do too. You can check your voter registration, register to vote, AND see Example Ballots below. Note that the last day for registration before the primary is July 7th!
Understanding Tennessee’s August Election
Tennessee has 3 types of elections this cycle:
✅ County General
✅ State Primary
✅ Federal Primary
When you vote, you’ll be asked: “Do you want a Democratic or Republican primary ballot?”
- If you say NO, you’ll get a ballot with only the County General Election — races like County Mayor, Sheriff, County Commission, School Board, and more.
- If you choose a party primary ballot (democrat or republican), you’ll get the County General Election PLUS the State and Federal Primary for that party.
The County Primary happened in May.
August is when voters choose the Democratic and Republican candidates who will run in the November General Election.
Every vote matters. Know what’s on your ballot and make your voice heard!
