I know it’s late… but FIRST THING tomorrow. This is crisis.

Dear Indivisibles,

Last night we learned that Governor Lee is calling the National Guard to help with deportations right here in Tennessee and I want to be clear. This is not only unnecessary but a dangerous power grab meant to scare and harm our neighbors and our communities.

Authoritarians throughout history have used this concept of an emergency, real or invented, to suspend norms and rewrite the rules to consolidate power. It’s our job as Tennesseans who care for each other to expose the playbook, reject the lie, and refuse to let fear become the foundation of law.

This is just another of Governor Lee’s attempts to dehumanize vulnerable people in an attempt to curry favor with the Trump administration and their efforts to take over cities and counties that they politically oppose.

So this is where you come in! We need you to join us in raising your voice in speaking out against this and calling Governor Lee to reverse course and not call in the national guard. [Can you take just one minute to send an email to Governor Lee and Lt. Gov Randy McNally telling them to not weaponize the National Guard against our communities?

The National Guard should be protecting Tennesseans from natural disasters and genuine emergencies—not being weaponized against our own communities. Mass deportation is already funded by the billions by the federal government and if we had elected leaders who actually prioritized what Tennesseans need those same billions could be used to transform education, healthcare, and infrastructure that would help all of us to thrive.

Tell Governor Lee to cut out this power grab and instead prioritize US, Tennesseans!

Joining you in the fight for justice for all Tennesseans,
