ICE OUT! Walkout and March (by Knox County School students)

  1. *STUDENT ORGANIZED BUT ALL ARE INVITED*

Knox County Schools high school students are pushing back against I.C.E. threats and actions in their schools and communities! They have organized this action for the January 30th deadline for Senate to approve the DHS funding bill or trigger a shutdown. From the students:

•••
WE’RE SKIPPING OUR LESSONS TO TEACH YOU ONE.
Protect students. Not ICE. You can’t claim to support “every child” if you don’t protect any child. Our schools. Our safety. Our right to be here.
Our education means nothing if our safety and our community are at risk. We aren’t just the leaders of tomorrow, we are the voices of today. When the system prioritizes enforcement over people, it’s our job to demand a change.

•••
– WHEN: Friday, January 30th, 9:30am.
– WHERE: Assemble near the World’s Fair Park Amphitheater and then march together through the park, up Clinch Ave and over to Krutch Park, and then to the City-County Building Lawn.

– WHAT: Dress for walking and the frigid cold. Bring water and signs; signs might be about ICE, immigration, government overreach, safety, funding, remembering the 6 people shot or killed by ICE/CBP in 2026, defunding ICE, shutdown, etc.

– NOTE: If you have mobility concerns, please feel free to go straight to the City-County Building Lawn at 430 Main St SW, Knoxville, TN 37902.
Indivisible Knoxville is co-sponsoring this event at the organizers’ request.
