It’s one battle at a time, and we still have the BIG battle of stopping the ‘big beautiful bill’ at the Senate.
But we won this one. And it was thanks to YOU. You made this happen!!! 500,000 acres of public lands in Utah and Nevada will stay in public hands (which bodes well for attempts to sell other public land)— a major win for us all. And all because YOU made it happen!!
What happened?
Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” threatened to hand over federal lands in Utah and Nevada—including areas near Zion National Park—to state control, opening the door to drilling, mining, and development. Once in state hands these lands could have been sold off to the highest bidder with no public input, no environmental review, and no community oversight.
Reps. Dina Titus and Susie Lee (D-NV) led the charge, joined by Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT), who called the proposal a “red line. Speaker Mike Johnson ultimately removed the land sale from the bill.
You called, you wrote, you protested, you commented, you engaged, you spread the word and YOU won!!!
But the fight isn’t over. The bill (minus the land sales) is on the way to the Senate. The ’sausage’ is far from made.
Tuesday we called our House reps – today and tomorrow we’re calling our state Senators and telling them to stop this insanity and protect the programs that working families depend on.
(Yes. We know these two are Trump sycophants. We call anyway. At the end of the day… each day we are fighting this battle and every one after it… they will KNOW their actions unquestionably go against the will of the people of Tennessee.)
